History of the Cherepovets Forestry College named after V.P. Chkalova begins with October 9, 1869of the year. It was created on the basis of the Alexander Technical School, organized by the brothers Ivan and Vasily Milyutin.

Particular attention was paid to public education   Ivan Andreevich Milyutin- Former Mayor. He said: "Without enlightenment ... we would sit with bears in the forest."

IN 1870   In the year a large two-story stone building of training workshops, which are functioning to this day, was built.

IN 1874   g. - a new academic building, reminiscent of a medieval West European Cathedral. The interiors are conveniently located around the front staircase. The educational building is a classic example of the "brick style". At the school there was a good well-groomed park, descending from the hill to the Sheksna River. The school was designed for 60 people. It prepared turners, locksmiths, joiners and draftsmen in the first decades of its existence, with a focus on ship repair, and then shipbuilding.

The first 5 years, ATU was a private educational institution of the Milyutins, then it began to be paid from the treasury.

The first director to hold this post for 40 years was Potapov N.I.   - Graduate of a technological institute in St. Petersburg. He was a process engineer and had 15 years of professional experience and a gold medal for inventions received at the World Exhibition in London.

In the 70s - 80s of the XIX century. only boys from 12 years old were accepted into the school. The teenager had to have a strong physique. 3-4 people per place - there was a regular competition for entrance exams. They were examined in three subjects: the Law of God, the Russian language, and arithmetic.

Taught: God's Law, Russian language, literature, world and Russian history, calligraphy, drawing, geography, physics, algebra, geometry, 2 times a week - singing and gymnastics. We studied special subjects: mechanics, technology of metals and wood, the doctrine of building materials, building art and bookkeeping.

Students wore uniforms. On the way out - a black double-breasted uniform and trousers, boots with short soft shafts, a short double-breasted overcoat in black. In winter and summer they wore a uniform black hat - a "hat". Studying at the school lasted 6 years: 4 years of theoretical studies combined with daily practice in training workshops, and then 2 years of one practice.

IN 1889 in the year "Rules for ATU students" were published, they contained 61 paragraphs. There were such words there: "Everyone must value the honor of the school, be moral and keep companions from immorality." Pupils were forbidden to rudely call each other and, moreover, to use force when clarifying relations.

ATU graduates were famous for their good preparation, when they were employed, they were in great demand, they were well paid. ATU students left a good memory of themselves and all residents of the city of Cherepovets. IN 1885   they are together with a drawing teacher   Bernik N.I.planned and laid down the city park, called the "Salt Garden". It was a truly botanical garden.

After 1917 the number of students increased, the profile of the school’s work changed. IN 1920   The school was transformed into a college of water transport.

IN 1929   g. - Cherepovets College of Industrial Agriculture. From the same year, the mass entry of girls into it begins. The first of them was Maria Zalevskaya.

IN 1930   c. - Cherepovets Forestry and Mechanical College, and in 1938   The technical school was named after V.P. Chkalov after his death.

  • Teplenichev Vitaliy Pavlovich   - 21 years heading the college, becoming its director;
  • Materikov Aleksey Petrovich   - The current director of the college.

Story

The history of this educational institution originates in October 1869, when the reformation of the Alexander Technical School. This year, Ivan and Vasily Milyutins founded the Forestry and Mechanical College. Cherepovets in those years became known precisely thanks to the activity of the mayor of Ivan Adreyevich Milyutin.

Later, in 1870, a two-story building was built, designed to house workshops that still continue to function.

Initially, the Forestry and Mechanical College accepted for training only boys, who also had to have a strong physique. Only forty years after the opening, in 1929, the college began to accept for the training of girls.

Graduates of the Forestry and Mechanical College have always been famous for their training. Most often, after the end of the entire training period, they immediately received an increased salary.

In 1930, after the death of Chkalov, the institution was given a new name, which is still used today - Cherepovets Forestry and Mechanical College named after V.P. Chkalov.
