In the repair shop depot TCHE-14 Elets North.

Yelets - a large railway junction in central Russia. Two railway lines intersect here, one of which goes from Moscow to the south of the center of Russia and further to the east of Ukraine, the other connects the Volga region with the western part of the Russian Federation, the Baltic countries and Belarus. There is another inactive line to Lev Tolstoy station. There is talk of a possible conservation of this line, but so far there are rail buses for local residents.

Station Yelets. I ran through the station briefly, because the main goal was to visit the depot Yelets - North. Honestly, I did not notice any particularly heavy traffic during my 2-hour stay at Yelets station.

Railways passing through the territory of the modern Lipetsk region were built in the second half of the 19th century. The years 1866-1868 include the construction of the Kozlov line (now Michurinsk-Voronezh, in 1869 the lines to Yelets and Borisoglebsk, which became part of the Orlov-Gryazi-Tsaritsynskaya road, stretched from the Gryazi station of the Kozlov-Voronezh railway.

In 1890, a line was laid from the Bogoyavlensk Ryazano - Kozlovskaya railway station to the Astapovo station (now Leo Tolstoy), from which the roads went in three directions - to Lebedyan, Dankov and Troekurovo. In 1891, these lines were merged under the supervision of the Ryazan-Ural railway society. The Astapovo-Lebedyan line was continued to Yelets, in 1899 the railway from Dankov was brought to Smolensk. In 1896, the Yelets - Kastornaya line was laid

In 1964, the Michurinsk-Voronezh trunk line passing through the territory of the Lipetsk Region was electrified, and in 1966 the Epiphany-Epiphany-Gryazi and Gryazi-Novolipetsk lines were electrified.

In the second half of the 1980s, work began on laying the second tracks and electrification of the Yelets - Gryazi section, completed in 1990. In 1992 - 97, the Yelets - Kastornaya Novaya line was electrified

In 1998, a 30-kilometer branch connecting the Lev Tolstoyso station with the Troekurovo station on the Ranenburg-Pavelets line was mothballed and later dismantled.

In the station building. The guard did not object to me taking a photograph.

    Cargo fleet of Yelets station.
The direction to Moscow has not yet been electrified. Electrification goes east, towards Lipetsk and Gryazi, and also south to Valuyki and further to Ukraine. Direction to Orel - Bryansk - Smolensk also on diesel traction.

I can’t imagine the same stand on our Kiev Darnitsa or for example in Kazatin. But the Southwest Road was also built in the same years and in the same country.

Rossoshansky EP1M. Depot Rossosh TCHE-3 - the main thing on the South East road for the operation of these passenger electric locomotives. Type of our Kiev PM-1 (Kiev - Pass). The shoulder of the Rossoshansky locks (I wonder what nickname came up with EP1M ?. For example, it reminds me a little soap box) just huge. It captures four roads: Moscow, Southeast, Volga and North Caucasus. From Ryazan to the Caucasus and from the Volga region to eastern Ukraine.

And here is the main goal of my excursion. Very nice and hospitable people in Yelets, in addition to driving me around the city by car, they also organized an excursion to the locomotive depot. With one condition - to take pictures without a flash, all the same, work is going on in the shops. Therefore, not all photos came out in perfect quality.
I was delighted! I am at home in Ukraine and did not dream to enter such a place, but here in another state.

    Diesel locomotive
76 units of TEP70 are assigned to the Yelets Severny depot, and they are the main profile machine for this depot. And another 41 pieces of shunting ChME3, 9 pieces of 2TE116. There are also 2 pcs of VL80K.
76 pieces of TEP70, this is all cash on the Southeast road diesel locomotives of this series. There is still TEP70BS on this road, but they are all assigned to the Rtishchevo depot (Saratov region)

    2TE116 Fantomas

Pistons from diesel diesel. Weigh decently

    Cases of diesel engines.
I am not an expert, so I can make mistakes in terms in some places.

    Crankshaft from a locomotive. Impressive!

Another workshop. I just forgot what they told me about him. Who can specify?

    In the same place.

Rtishchevsky "slipper" TEP70BS, hyped and without diesel. Impressive wheels with traction electric motors

TEP70BS is a modern modification of the veteran TEP70. It is produced at the Kolomenskoye plant from 2002 to this day. 185 cars produced. 24 cars are assigned to the Rtishchevo depot.

    Cool slogan.

Wheels and trolleys. I did not even imagine that the wheeled trolley is actually so huge.

A giant lathe for machining wheelsets.

    Bumblebee over the pit.

And where does terrorism? This is not a station

The workshops are impressive. Just like a whole plant.

    Machine shop.

"Slipper" from another road - from the Volga (depot Volgograd). Volgograd have a characteristic green color.

    Monument to the engine.

Another guest from Volgograd, and then TEP70BS from Rtishchevo.

    Another kind of case

Decommissioned diesel locomotive, previously attributed to the October Road.

ChME3 from Kochetovka (Michurinsk). Probably arrived for repair, because it’s not a passing beam for a shunting diesel locomotive.

It looks like the “slipper” that dragged our train from Kursk to Voronezh three days earlier.

The old man VL80K with the surviving emblem of the USSR Railway, which is used for auxiliary purposes. He does not carry the main service.
Here, in South-West, VL80K is the main workhorse of the freight service.

And here is the Yelets PTOL (Locomotive Maintenance Center). This is not a repair facility and cars from other depots or even roads in circulation are serviced here.
Shunting CMEZ prepared for pushing EP1M electric locomotives into PTOL

3-section VL80S (depot Liski) with an interesting number. By the way, who knows why almost all Liskin VL80s have 3 sections?

"Fantomas" in the pit in PTOL.

But for this the Chmuhi brigade probably received a hat from the depot employee accompanying me. The Rossoshansky EP1M-676 is being pushed into the PTOL and no one controlled the presence of people in front of the pushed locomotive. This huge colossus swept past us, albeit slowly.

Slipper (TEP70) over the repair pit.

And here is the museum rarity of TEP60 with a downed number. A place for him in the museum, but I'm afraid they will cut him for scrap.
That would be like this in the Kiev Museum. But in Ukraine, it seems they did not exist at all.

On February 6, 1869, the Charter of the Aleksandrovsky Craft Railway School in Yelets was approved at the workshops of the Oryol-Gryazinsky Railway. It was founded by the Decree of Emperor Alexander II at the initiative of the builder of the railways of the merchant I guild S.S. Polyakova and at the request of the first Minister of Railways P.P. Melnikova. This was the first railway school in Russia to train railway technicians. The 2-story brick building of the educational building and the stone building of the training workshops, to which two dormitories, a bathhouse and a laundry room, a garden and a gymnastics camp, were intended for students and teachers. A wooden one-story house was built for the head of the school.

In 1891, the son of the founder D.S. The Polyakov School was transferred to the Ministry of Railways.

The school participated in the All-Russian exhibitions of 1872 and 1882, where it was awarded a large medal and a diploma of 2 degrees, in the All-Russian Hygiene Exhibition of 1893, as well as in the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900. She took an active part in the congresses of Russian figures in technical and vocational education in Russia and exhibitions at them in 1889-1990, 1895-1996 and 1903-1904.

The status of the school was changing: the secondary technical school of construction specialties (1917), the construction technical school of the People's Commissariat of Railways (1922), the vocational technical school of construction specialties (1923-1925), the track and construction college (1930). In 1925-1939, a school of factory apprenticeship worked at the technical school. During the Great Patriotic War, the technical school was evacuated twice - to Saratov (1941) and Mozhga of the Udmurt Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (1942).

In 1943, the technical school, which returned from evacuation, was housed in a dormitory building on Ryazan-Uralskaya Street, since the educational building was damaged during a raid by enemy aircraft. Dormitory buildings were also damaged, but were rebuilt by students and teachers. In 1952, the technical school was transferred to a new academic building, specially built by the architect M.A. Gottlieb.

In 1963, the correspondence department was opened in the specialties of the technical school. In 1966, a full-time and correspondence departments were opened with a specialization in “Track and Construction Machines”, and in 1972 a full-time department was opened with a specialization in “Bridges and other man-made structures”.

In 2007, the technical school was recognized as one of the 100 best secondary specialized educational institutions in Russia. The director of the technical school V.G. Krasnov was awarded the sign “Director of the Year 2007”. In 2015, the status of "The best unit of secondary vocational education" was confirmed by the technical school.

In 2009, the Yelets Railway College became part of the Moscow State University of Railway Engineering. Since April 2016, the Yeletsk College of Railway Transport is a branch of the Rostov State University of Railways.
