In general, I don’t understand why there have been so many of these browsers recently... well, not that much. For example, there is some browser with an interesting name (like NiChrome), it’s from Rambler, and it’s unclear why they made it if Rambler itself is not very popular..
Believe it or not, I don’t remember how it got onto the computer, well, this Comet browser. Personally, I did not install it myself. But I installed other software, maybe it got into the computer with it or with other software... in general, I don’t know where the Kometa browser came from, I only know that I didn’t download it
It seems to me that there is something wrong in the browser. Well, firstly, when I open it, the website smartinf.ru appears, and there are a lot of complaints about this site on the Internet. Well, the site behaves like a virus and sometimes it is found even in browser shortcuts. Well, that is, you understand, yes, that something is not clean here.
The site smartinf.ru itself slightly copies the Yandex search engine. That is, it is such an underground search engine, so to speak. But the advertising is kind of strange, its emphasis is too much on the side of a scam.
So look, I have the Kometa browser installed, after rebooting I look in the task manager and see the KometaLaunchPanel.exe process and several more kometa.exe there:
Do you know why there are several kometa.exe processes? I wrote at the beginning that the browser is based on Chrome, which has several processes. That is, the browser does not work under one process, like Mozilla, but under several. Well, I think you know what I mean. So. This is where the main jamb is announced - it is the consumption of RAM even if the browser is not running. The Kometa browser sits hidden in the background. Why is this necessary? Well, this is so that when you want to open it, it opens instantly.
And in the tray I noticed the Kometa icon:

As you can see, there is an unusual checkbox that, if checked, will cause Kometa to work in the background. If you uncheck the box, there will be no background processes kometa.exe in the manager
That is, as you can see, this is a regular browser, but it is called not Chrome but Comet and at the same time it promotes the left search engine.

Those who created the Kometa browser (although what’s there to do with it if it’s a clone of Chrome) they took such an interesting step. We created a kind of side panel. They think that with the help of this panel they will be able to gain the trust of users. I have this panel hanging on the right and this is what it looks like, I haven’t opened it yet:

But my personal opinion is that it is inconvenient, well, because you can accidentally press it and in general, if you need to quickly go to some site, then you will not succeed. Well, that is, this panel does not allow you to do this quickly. In general, my panel did not open immediately.
I also found out that KometaLaunchPanel.exe is launched from this folder:
C:\Users\VirtMachine\AppData\Local\Kometa\Panel
And the browser itself, that is, the kometa.exe process, is launched from this folder:

I also found out that this panel, that is, the KometaLaunchPanel.exe process, sits in startup. Here you can see for yourself, hold down Win + R, write the msconfig command there and click OK:
And then in the System Configuration window, go to the Startup tab, you will see there an entry such as Kometa Launch Panel (that is, launching the panel):
Well, in principle, you can uncheck this box. But the Kometa browser or the panel itself can then check this box... It’s better to disable autorun in the panel itself. I showed the settings at the top, there is also a way to disable autorun, you just need to select Manual in the Launch panel.
Here’s something else I noticed, it’s also interesting! In short, when you search for something through the address bar, you end up on Mail.ru, I already wrote that. But what’s interesting is that first another site opens for half a second, namely kometa.search.ru, and only then the Mail ru search starts. This is all done so that at any time they can change the search engine and so that the site kometa.search.ru redirects to another search engine. What's this? This is search engine manipulation, that's what it is!
Such advertising definitely should not be on YouTube, I think you agree with me. Well, I’ll also show you something now. It's both funny and crying. In short, when I showed an advertisement, well, examples, I opened a random video and it was the cartoon Luntik. So, I opened another video and also with Lunik because they have similar videos there. And look. This is the page with the Luntik video, advertising on the right:

I think that comments are unnecessary here. The video is for children and the advertisement is for adults. Nonsense and idiocy.

- The Kometa browser is another clone of Google Chrome, there is nothing special in the browser except a sidebar, but I don’t think it’s very useful;
- when you open the browser, a strange search engine smartinf.ru, which is similar to Yandex, immediately launches; although this can be disabled;
- YouTube inserts false advertisements, which are not particularly pleasant and often dull; advertising is not just inserted, but replaced, that is, the original advertising on YouTube is removed and the left one is put in its place, so that it is unnoticeable; I think that such advertising can be inserted on other popular sites;
- by default, after installing the Comet browser, it launches itself when you turn on Windows and not easily, but hidden in the background, so to speak; in this case, there are usually several processes in the kometa.exe manager and they all consume RAM; this is done so that the browser itself opens instantly and this can be disabled in the settings, I showed how above; but background processes can cause slowdowns;
- In short, from everything I wrote, I personally conclude that I do not recommend using the Kometa browser, it is a left-wing browser that is aimed primarily at inserting left-wing advertising; that is, the main task in the end is to display advertising, and not just a simple one, but a stupid one;

How to completely remove Kometa from your computer?
So if you ultimately decide to delete the Kometa browser, then I understand you, it seems to me that it’s not very good...

Well, now how to remove it using built-in tools. So, first click Start and select Control Panel there (if you have Windows 10, then this item is in the menu that is called Win + X):

Next in the list of software we find the software from Comet and delete it. There will be both the Comet browser and the Comet sidebar, that is, it’s like two programs. Let's start by removing the sidebar, right-click on it and select Delete:

That's it, she will quickly leave later. Now we delete the Comet browser itself, also right-click on it and select Delete:

And that’s it, you’ve deleted the Comet browser along with the sidebar. So what's now?
